It's been long time we have done any experiment mumma, can we do one today. This one sentence was enough to motivate me.
Today we discussed about density. Yes, it is a really tough concept to grasp. Density is how much mass in in a volume or space.
This line can't make any sense to my daughter, I need to put more efforts as she is still in Senior KG 😄.
To understand what is density, we gathered some grass and divided it in two equal parts as shown below.
Now, we took two different size bags and filled it with the grass.
It is easy to understand that the left side bag has more grass in small area and hence more dense. This explained the density concept easily.
After this we did the experiment called: Water Oil Density.
We pour some water in a glass and then pour some oil in the same glass.
We can observe that the oil is floating on top of the water. This is because oil has lower density than water.
We did one more fun experiment to understand density. we took four glasses, water, sugar, colors, straw and a spoon. We put 2 table spoon, 1 table spoon and no sugar in glasses from left to right respectively.
Next we added same amount of water in all three glasses and mixed the sugar.
After the sugar is dissolved completely, we added different colors in all three glasses.
Now, we put different color solutions one by one in the last empty glass with the help of straw.
It can be seen that different color solutions are not mixed together and staking according to the density of the solution. Here, green color solution with maximum sugar has more density than other solutions and hence is in the bottom of the glass. Orange color solution with no sugar has lowest density and hence floating on the top.
Very nice
